Here are some different illustrations of the same characters with outlines and without. I appreciate your comments! BTW we've been camping at the lake this week! Really fun! No roughing it...we have our RV with air, TV, comfy beds :) I'm too much of a wimp to be outdoorsy. Should have seen my body flying out of Big Bertha, the huge innertube pulled behind the boat. It was fun...but a little scary!

I really like the 'no outlines' look and the painterly style (but I'm biased)... All three styles are worth keeping in your arsenal.
Cute characters!
Wow, Tracy, you can create so many different looks! See how good you're getting at Photoshop? This is quite amazing, really... Like Eric, I also love the ones with "no outlines", the painterly effect is wonderful. But I also like the others, I think they are all adorable and can work as different styles for you.
PS. I'm like you, no roughing it when camping! :-)
Hi Tracy. My initial favorites are the #3 pig & chicken that look more painterly. However, I'm also diggin' the shaded with outline. I always love a black outline, especially if it's got a different weight throughout. To me, the details seem to pop more. Too cute! I think you could do both, depending on what is needed.
all styles look great...but my favororite is the one without outlines...because the characters look more in 3D (awesome shading)
I agree! NO outlines! They are just cuter and more interesting and soft. But overall, they are all very cute characters.
No OUtlines!! I love the texture that happens naturally with the paint! Gorgeous! Thanks for the comment on my blog! I look forward to seeing more of your work!
How did I miss this?
Well I am completely biased and have to go with NO OUTLINES.
Loving the chicken. So cute.
HMMMM, I like the 2s best but almost equal to the 3s. Yeah, about equal. All of them are cute. :D
Hey Tracy
Thanks for stopping by on my blog!
Here are my comments to your technique test: less is more - I prefer either 3 or 1. 2 is too much, and not necessary in my book.
also love the technique of your "about me" picture, you should do more of that, it's super cute!
