Illustration Friday: Homage

Webster's Dictionary says an homage is something that shows respect or attests to the worth or influence of another. My 11 1/2 year old dog, Meg had to be put to sleep Thursday afternoon because of kidney failure. She was a beautiful dog with a beautiful personality. She was the gentlest dog I'd ever met. My quick sketch is a small tribute to her and the impact she had on our lives. She was a gorgeous Golden Retriever who will be greatly missed.

So sorry for your loss. I had my 11 year old cat put to sleep Friday for cancer. It's so hard to loose a pet. I have a 1 year old golden who's making it a little easier.

That's a sweet drawing of Meg, shows your love for her.
So sorry about your loss.
I lost my cat Molly earlier this month, I still miss her terribly. She was 20 years old.

When I read your blog about Meg it made me feel sad. Many people don't understand losing a pet is like losing a member of their family. Lovely sketch!

Oh, Tracy, I'm very sorry for your loss. Meg sounds like she was a wonderful friend and a much beloved member of your family. We did think alike this week, I guess it's because we both understand how much a pet can mean to us.
Your painting is a lovely tribute to beautiful Meg.

This is a fine tribute to your beloved dog. Dogs are so great; all they really want to do is be happy and please you. Nice expression in your illustration - really captures the feeling of happiness in your pooch!

It must be very difficult to lose a beloved pet. I've never had a pet before Sully, so I can't imagine the feeling. What a beautiful tribute to Meg!

Oh, Tracy... that's so sad and she was so young. I'm sorry. I know how much it hurts when you lost an unique friend as Meg.

Your illustration is a wonderful tribute.

I am so sorry about your "Meg". She must have been a wonderful companion and you showed great love by allowing her to free herself of pain. Our family knows this feeling first hand. Meg will continue to live on in many of your illustrations, I am sure.

I'm so sorry about your dog Meg. I had a golden retriever named Barkley. He was the best dog in the world, so I know how hard it is. They become so much a part of the family. They are not here long enough. Your drawing of her is so sweet.
